Student Data Privacy and Security Policy

In accordance with the requirements of various State and Federal laws, the International Academy of Science (“IAS”) provides the following policy with respect to maintaining the privacy and security of student data:

This policy expands upon and clarifies the information provided in our online Privacy Policy located at: https://www.science.edu/privacy/

The International Academy of Science will not sell, or rent, any student personal information to third parties for any commercial purpose whatsoever.

How we protect and store student personal information

The International Academy of Science stores and processes all student personal information collected on our computers in the US, and we protect it by maintaining physical, electronic and procedural safeguards. We use computer safeguards such as firewalls, data encryption, and multi-factor authentication for login. We enforce physical access controls to our buildings and files.

Pursuant to these safeguards, students’ personally identifiable information is only accessible by:

  • IAS personnel who require such information to perform their responsibilities;
  • Teachers and Administrators of schools that are utilizing an IAS educational program, such as Acellus, for the benefit of their students;
  • Other appropriately authorized individuals, including (but not limited to):
    • A registered “Parent” or “Advisor” of a student enrolled in Acellus; and
    • State or federal employees in response to a lawfully issued subpoena for a student’s information.

Changes to this policy

We may amend this policy at any time by posting a revised version on our website. The revised version will be effective at the time we post it. Persons wishing to be notified of changes to this Student Data Privacy and Security Policy should request such notification using the contact form on our website. We last modified this Policy on December 15, 2023.
