New breakthroughs in 3-D printing have now been applied to prosthetics, where detailed construction capability is resulting in a more secure fit and greater functionality of bionic limbs — not to mention reduced fabrication costs.

One company is even “customizing” these prosthetics. Instead of masking them underneath artificial “skin,” they are making them a personality-fashion statement. See these interesting advancements in this week’s Technology Spotlight.
